Recreated the rubber feet on my laptop with left over black Sugru - it survived a 3 hour desk session without sliding!
The factory rubber pads on the bottom of my work laptop peeled off a few weeks ago, and the constant sliding around on my smooth wooden desk was driving me absolutely insane. Every time I hit the spacebar or leaned forward, the whole laptop would just drift.
Instead of buying generic replacement stickers that usually fall off in a week, I molded four flat discs using a leftover packet of black Sugru. I pressed them onto the clean plastic chassis, leveled them out by resting the laptop flat on some wax paper overnight, and let it cure.
Put it to a real test today during a long, active browsing session in the evening (was testing a fast, highly responsive web interface for a few hours). The grip is incredible. Zero wobble, zero heat-softening from the laptop vent, and it stays perfectly planted even when navigating high-density grids or typing aggressively.
If you have any packets nearing their expiration date, highly recommend using them for custom desktop grips. Has anyone else used it for laptop ergonomics or desk setups?
