Genesis 12:20

Genesis 12:20

“And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.”

Genesis 12:20 closes the chapter with Abram being sent away from Egypt, along with Sarai and all that he had. He leaves with his household intact, but not because he managed the situation well. He leaves because God preserved him in spite of his weakness.

This verse reminds us that God’s faithfulness often carries His people through the consequences of their own failures. That does not excuse the failure, but it does magnify divine mercy.

There is a fitting end here. Abram entered Egypt under fear and compromise, and he departs under the preserving hand of God. The chapter leaves us humbled by Abram’s weakness and grateful for God’s unwavering commitment to His promise.
