What's the worst issue you've come across during a honor run?

I've had a surplus of free time lately due to some rather intense health issues, and decided the best way to stay sane in a trying time was with my comfort RPG. While I wasn't playing, I uninstalled the game and reformatted my computer. I didn't know the golden dice were stored locally, so when I fired it back up, I discovered my golden dice were gone, as were my old saves (I turned off cloud saves when I ran out of room).

Well, time for an honor run, I guess. I've never lost an honor run, so even though I wasn't at the top of my game, I figured I could handle it. This is my 12th run, and my 5th honor run. I decided on Origin Wyll Sorlockadin and set forth.

Things were going great until I got to the Grove. The initial Grove fight was fine, but when I went to face the harpies, I forgot Shadowheart. Even though I made my initial save to resist being lured, the next turn, half the party was lured. No Calm Emotions meant I didn't have a great solution handy. We survived just fine, but Mirkon didn't. Lost a bro and inspiration. RIP Lil buddy.

Keep going, a while later, I head to the Zhentarim base, free Oskar, get the Titan String, etc. I am clicking to navigate and I guess I hit an item by accident, because the Zhents accused me of theft and went hostile. They immediately started blowing things up. If I didn't have warding bond active, we would've wiped, but someone makes it back to camp and had Withers bring the rest of us back to the dead. I go back for revenge, and all the Zhents who didn't blow themselves up are gone. RIP xp. RIP Smokepowder. Never saw that place empty until I emptied it.

Fine, no big deal. Keep playing. Get to the Goblin Temple, save the npcs. Knock out Minthara, run to the camp to pick up Shadowheart for her heretic inspiration. The quest journal updates and I'm told the Goblins left to raid the Grove. WHAT? I hurry back, kill Dror Ragzlin and Priestess Gut. At this point, my Quest Journal is in some kind of quantum superposition. I've simultaneously defeated the Goblin leaders and failed to prevent them raiding the Grove.

Weird. I kill the remaining Goblins, the last two alive are two guards right by the front door. Astarion uses my one Act 1 Arrow of Many Targets to kill them both, and also HITS MINTHARA. HOW? We were nowhere near her? RIP Minthara I'll miss your sexy voice and hilarious dialogue. I go to talk to Halsin and have the option to tell him either that I couldn't stop the Goblins from leaving to Raid the Grove, or that I defeated all 3 leaders. I told him they were all dead because, well, they were even deader then usual.

On go the Mountain Pass. I fail every check to get Lae'zel out of the Zaith'isk. I used Enhance Ability. I had 4 inspiration in case of bad roles. Just shit luck. Lae'zel now has 3 permanent debuffs, and I already told her we weren't using tadpoles. When I try to get her to eat them to fix the issues, she gives a hard no. Crap. On to Act 2.

I kill drider-bro, get Pixie's Blessing, go to Grymforge and enter that way to save the Harpers. Then I get over zealous unlocking fast travel points before I go to Last Light. I get there. There's no scene with Mol and Raphael. I guess he's already by the Mausoleum. There's also no Florrick. She left already. Oof. I missed some possible Origin content, but Astarion at least can still talk to Raphael by the Mausoleum.

Hereabouts, I realize I'm missing a warding bond hireling. Brinna Brightsing was multispeced as Cleric bard, just for the bond, and she's my trader. I go to Withers, turns out she died. He brings her back. She does not return. She has disappeared into the ether. I can't dismiss her. I can't see her. I can't recruit another hireling because I already have 3. I... don't understand. Everything is so expensive without Persuasion expertise.

We do all the usual quests. I'm almost ready to go to the Gauntlet. I cleared Moonrise in advance. All I have left do is Halsin's Shadow Curse questline. I'd already played Hide and Seek with Oliver, won, and got the lute. I'm nervous to defend the portal. I'm only level 9. This will be my first game without Hunger of Hadar to layer with Sleet Storm. I don't have 3rd level warlock spells. I figure I can make up for it with a single Globe of Invulnerability scroll, Sleet Storm scrolls, and Ice Storm scrolls. Bring on the Slip and Slide.

Here's where I fucked up. At the last minute, I bench Gale. I have the scrolls anyone can use. My Tavern Brawler OH monk Karlach gets inspiration from this quest, so I take her, even though she's not optimal for my strat. Initiative rolls are good. I thank Ao for the Globe scroll, since we only have up to 5th level spells. Drop the Globe to make the portal invulnerable. Have Shart use Spirit Guardians as well just to keep Shadows from porting inside the globe. We're all stocked on Arrows of Many targets for birds and tentacles.

Astarion and Karlach start cleaning up adds. I go to cast Ice Storm and accidentally cast Sleet Storm. I've been up all night in pain, and I'm not thinking or seeing clearly. Clash of concentration. Goodbye Globe of Invulnerability. Two more turns go by. The enemies start passing their saves, and walk close enough to start hitting the portal. We're at full health, but the portal is at half. I have Astarion cast Mist, and I cast darkness. They can't target the portal if they are too blind to see it.

But they do attack it. The last turn the portal just \*poofs\*. An attack that shouldn't be possible must've hit the portal and takes the remaining half of the portal's health. Expletives galore. I go to camp. Halsin's tent is there, but he'll never use it again. I've never been without him. Never failed a questline so spectacularly. I decide to soldier on anyway.

We go to the Mausoleum via the Morgue, because I forgot to pick up the Eversight Ring. Kill the cursed Kua-toa. Finally get to Raphael, and Astarion just isn't in the scene. He's right there, but he's not in the convo. Conversation ends. Quest Journal updates. We'll have to find out about the scars from Cazador. That's new.

The only mod I'm running is Windwalker's Grace for QoL. I don't know where these problems are coming from. I'm just so tired. 🥲 Sure, there are some skill issues. Yes, after beating honor mode legit the first time I used one mod. But I've never ran into so many disappointments in one run. Proof that this isn't my first rodeo is attached.
