I can't open X links from instagram

I just switched to android and I can't open links for x when I'm on Instagram. Normally it opens the x app on apple but on android it just brings me to the play store and won't open the link. Has anyone else had this? I've reinstalled x and checked my settings but I'm new to this. -galaxy s26-
