Eero Max 7 with major range issues

I picked up a Max 7 recently as the reviews made it seem like it was a set up and done device. I've nerded out on home networks in the past, but decided I wanted something that just worked.

Unfortunately, the Max 7 has been really problematic from a range perspective, and I'm not sure what I can do to improve situations.

The Eero is my office at one of my apartment. Within 10 feet or so the signal is fantastic. As soon as I walk past 10 feet the signal starts to drops dramatically, and by the time I'm at 15 feet I'm flickering back and forth from WiFi to cell data on my iPhone.

There are a few walls in-between the Eero and spots where the signal drops out completely, but all of my previous routers supported connections at least from 15 feet out, if not further.

Am I missing something? I have MLO and client steering off, encryption is WPA2 except for 6Ghz.
