Am I cooked?
A few months ago I posted this: https://www.reddit.com/r/powerstroke/s/BfpOLQ86yX
And today, I had my dads retired mechanic friend come over to check things out and he says that I have indeed thrown a rod.
When I had initially cranked it, he said that it sounded like an injector, but to my surprise, it eventually started up and when he listened to it from the bottom, he came to the conclusion that it's a thrown rod and he is pretty sure of it.
Am I cooked here? Is it worth even trying to repair my motor or should I just look to sell it?
I hate this because I love this truck and would really rather not get rid of it. It's my first truck, my first ford, my first dually, everything, and I've put a lot of time and effort into it. Should I get a second opinion maybe? Ik throwing a rod in a 7.3 is near impossible, but maybe I've somehow done it lol.
Just looking for some advice or any thoughts at all really, thank you!
