Disappointed by Lagoon Ride Closures
We’re season pass holders at Lagoon and just got back from a disappointing day and I wanted to get the community’s experience at Lagoon recently in terms of ride closures.
The weather was perfect and the crowds were light. It should have been a great day.
Maybe my expectations are too high or I just have bad luck but I have tried 3 times this year to go to Lagoon specifically looking to ride their new ride the Nutcracker and every time I have gone it has been closed. Today it was closed for the entire day. So disappointing for a brand new ride after spending a small fortune on season tickets. There seems to be no way to know ahead of time of closures.
Second to that we encountered issue after issue today. Colossus closed temporarily (frequent issue), Steamworx was closed for the day, Time Tinker was running half capacity, Rattlesnake rapids broke down while we were on it and the train and Ferris wheel are closed getting long term upgrades. Wooden coaster seems to break down once per visit. It was laughable how all day we encountered issues.
Obviously I want things closed if they’re not safe, but it seems like closures are excessive and frequent even on marquee rides. Outside of Disneyland I don’t really have theme park experience to compare it to (part of the issue in Utah!)
On top of this load times are SO slow because of loading protocols, understaffed rides, and employees who don’t rush at all.
The experience was not great. I left frustrated and seriously considering not renewing our passes next year. I’m curious if others agree it is worse this year or like I said do I just have bad luck?? Any insight from employees?
