Bringing the storm. Tips for an ele Sham in m+

Discussion

Hello friends.

I recently returned to retail after a long break and have been playing an ele sham which isn’t my usual bag, usually I play resto. I like resto, I’m good at it and I have always pushed up to 20+ key levels with relative ease. Unfortunately, this time around my friend wanted to heal on his Druid so I switched to ele. Lo and behold, he played healer for all of a week until the meta switched and now he is playing ret pala which is a huge pain but oh well we are where we are and I have invested too much time into ele to switch back to resto now. Especially as a lot of the bis gear comes from raid for Resto and I don’t have a guild yet to run those.

I got to 3.4k io quickly, about 2 weeks after ding but now I feel a little stuck and that there may be some fundamentals I am missing about this spec, especially in the m+ setting. I am 282 ilvl, I have mostly bis but not all in mythic. About half of my gear is still hero and my talents are nabbed from the second highest io ele sham I found on Murlok.io. (The top guy was playing farseer but I like storm more)

Ele is fun for sure BUT i have never played a spec that feels like it needs to be blessed by the gods of RNG more. On those big lust pulls I might do 500k or 140k depending on whether the gods of the tempest are smiling upon me or not. If a tank is pulling a little out of sync with my CDs I might as well not be in the group. Damage is wet noodles. I have runs that are pure dopamine and runs that make me want to cry with these procs. I’ve literally had pugs tell me my damage is great one run and that I’m hard carried and i should uninstall the next. Whatever, people will always cry. The only part of this spec that feels consistent is boss damage, typically I will finish about at around 80-90k dps but again, sometimes it could be 50 if times are tough.

Do any other ele vets have some decent knowledge they can impart on me to help with consistency?Even better, a streamer or some ele shaman guru that I can watch online to see what they are doing. Your opinions and questions are welcome.
