VVT Code Questions/ My car keeps dying in traffic I need help

I’ve had this 2011 Buick Regal for a few months, bought it from family with no prior issues and 67k miles on it(used to be a grandma car). After going on a trip rounding up to about 1,000 miles back and forth my check engine light came on. It would come and go so I was riding it out, then my car started dying when I’d try to accelerate into a turn from a stop or under 10 mph. Now it’s dying in the middle of traffic going well over 20 mph and putting me in danger. Google has lots of answers and I have the P0010 error code from Advanced auto so I have a starting point but I wanted to see if I could get some better more direct answers here. I’ve already changed the oil and have been checking it regularly to make sure I’m not running with dirty oil. I have been able to put it in neutral and restart it while on the road when traffic isn’t too heavy but I’m worried that will wear out my car. I’m thinking I just need to replace that valve but I still would like some input
