Where are people actually buying and selling heavy equipment right now?

I’m curious what’s actually working for people right now.

Buying or selling heavy equipment still feels scattered all over the place.

Some people use Facebook Marketplace.
Some go through dealers.
Some use auctions.
Some list on MachineryTrader or Equipment Trader.
Some just rely on word of mouth.

But it seems like every option has a downside:

  • Tire kickers
  • Sketchy buyers
  • Bad listings
  • No real machine history
  • Hard-to-compare pricing
  • Shipping headaches
  • Attachments not matching the machine
  • People asking new-machine money for worn-out equipment

I’ve been working on a more focused heavy equipment marketplace inside the Heovy ecosystem and want honest feedback from people who actually deal with this stuff.

market.heovy.com

What would actually make a heavy equipment marketplace useful to you?

Would it need:

  • Better seller verification?
  • Machine-hour transparency?
  • Attachment compatibility?
  • Local listings?
  • Dealer listings?
  • Private seller listings?
  • Financing info?
  • Transport/shipping help?
  • Maintenance records?
  • Operator/company profiles?

Not trying to turn this into a sales pitch.
I’m genuinely trying to figure out what the industry is missing.

If you’ve bought or sold equipment before, what was the biggest pain?
