The best anime to watch to get into anime.

Unless you're not a fan of body horror and blood then maybe not...but otherwise without a doubt, it's easily Parasyte:The Maxim. What a series. From beginning to end that series was sum special. It has emotion, stakes, amazing characters, a great storyline, an actual good dub (for the time-dubs have been improving recently but this one still holds up) and more.

The anime dropped in 2014 and it still holds up. I think this anime sums up what anime can truly bring to the table as a medium and source of entertainment. It's a 24 episode anime so not the most lengthiest but it's still bingeable. Parasyte is one of the best ways to ease into anime (I'd say Death Note if you don't want to jump into something insanely gorey though)
