My grandma has dementia, and it's so damn obvious

Conversation

My grandma was diagnosed with dementia in 2019. She's lived with it for 7 years, and is creeping up on the final stages. Watching the news gives me serious deja vu. He's exhibiting all of the signs that I watched my grandmother go through.

First they lose their verbal filter, they no longer care about what they say or who hears them say it. Then they start putting actions to it. In my grandma's case, it was refusing to do everything for my grandpa the way she had been for decades upon decades. In Trump's case, it's yelling at a reporter and walking out of an interview. The whole time they become meaner and meaner, and by the time their memory starts to go, they're already having trouble making it to the bathroom.

What's most alarming about all of this is that Trump isn't displaying the early signs, he's showing those that are well in the middle of the disease's progression. Anyone that has any experience with someone that has dementia can see that clear as day. I just don't understand why people are just sitting around allowing a man that is actively losing his mind to remain in the most powerful position in our government. My only consolation is that my grandmother *loathed* Trump, and she'd be satisfied to know that he's suffering a fate he deserves if she was still herself. Dementia destroyed one of the kindest, most generous women I've ever known. Imagine what is going to happen to our country when the man running it has it.
