My mum texted my ex and embarrassed me. I'm 22F he's 22M. How do I handle this?
Someone pour gasoline on me and set me on fire Jesus fucking Christ I want to crawl out of my skin out of embarrassment.
My ex broke up with me a month ago. Hurt like a bitch but I was proud of myself because I didn't beg. He sent a voice note saying "I think we should break up" I told him if that's what he wants then okay. Then he sent a few voice notes after, I didn't listen or respond so that was it.
I cried to my mum when the pain got really bad just venting to her. My mum while I was crying said something like "I just feel like texting him" and I was like no no please don't. Thinking she wouldn't. I had never even CONCEIVED the concept that she would ever text him. Until I had to use her phone today because I was looking for a specific contact and I saw SHE MESSAGED HIM 3 DAYS AFTER WE BROKE UP.
She asked him if he could call, he rightly and politely declined saying he doesn't think it would be a good idea.
She then sends a big paragraph saying "you don't throw someone away like a rag" "You don't treat people like this" "[my name] is so broken. She's a fragile and precious girl..."
He replies "[my name] and I already discussed the reasons for the breakup...I feel uncomfortable.... wishing you all the best"
It's literally like she thought of the most embarrassing and unhinged thing she could say and decided to lay it all out. Lads, I'm mortified and it's even worse that I only found out today. SHE HID THE FACT THAT SHE TEXTED HIM FOR A MONTH. I feel sick with shame and I don't know if I should text him to apologise for the fact my mum did that and make it exceedingly clear I had NOTHING to do with it and did not want nor expect her to reach out to him.
I genuinely cannot fathom why she did that. My mum's in her 60s and Nigerian so there's always that cultural element to her behavior that may come across as overstepping but she had NEVER done anything like this before and the worst part is that when I confronted her she was so defensive and acting like I was unreasonable for getting mad. "I'm a mother, would you just watch your child cry..". I feel like shit because I felt liked I walked away with dignity and she aura nerfed me so bad. And the fact she told him I was heart broken and I'm fragile like wtf??? Is she on??
Anyway would it be a good ideal to text him and clear the air or just let it all go? I can't stand the thought that he or anyone else thinks I orchestrated it but I also appreciate the fact it happened a month ago.
