Instead of VAR what if they had coaches challenges instead like in the NBA?

First, I don’t have a problem with var. I think it’s fine. However I know that’s it’s controversial and many don’t want it because they say it disrupts the game.

So what if they had coaches challenges instead? The refereeing would be like pre-var days in which the ref doesn’t go challenged, except when the coach challenges it. Then it goes to var. In the nba they get 1 challenge and if that’s successful then they’re awarded another challenge. maybe in football it would be like 2 or 3 challenges per match and if they’re successful they’ll get an additional challenge. I think it adds another good layer into the game. The coach has to strategically use the challenges. It adds another dimension to it and is somewhat of a middle ground of tons of things going to var and pre-var.
