Most solo lawyers spend more than half their day NOT practicing law
I noticed that ~60-70% of lawyers spent time not practicing law but actually do "everything" around that, which results in lower billable hours than expected.
I'm trying to help a few lawyers I work with cut down the repetitive stuff, and I'd love a gut check from this community to see if the same patterns show up for everyone.
If you had to name the one task that steals the most time or you simply hate it, what is it?
- Tracking and logging billable time
- Sending invoices and chasing people who owe you
- Trust/IOLTA reconciliation
- Court deadlines and docketing
- Intake and conflict checks
- Drafting the same documents over and over
- Client communication and status updates
- Bookkeeping and expenses
Anything else?
