How do I lure my nervous "wild" cat back home

So our cat has been with us for years now and was born from out other cat that was feral but is pretty domesticated at this point and they all live in our shed. Recently because possibly another non neutered cat has started hanging around our cat went missing for a few weeks, as it turns out hes been up the hill from us being fed occasionally. Ideally we'd like him back where hed be safer but we dont know how to get him back as even before he was plenty nervous and sometimes wouldn't let us get too close. Any advice for this would be really appreciated
