First college kid!

SUCCESS!

This is my fourth year teaching special ed high school history, title 1 district. All of my students are 9th and 10th grade.

The freshmen that I started with are graduating next week, and one of them stopped by to grab my signature for her yearbook. I asked her what her next step is and she told me that she’s going to XYZ University (and a pretty good one at that) to study ABC Major to become a Social Worker! She’s at the vocational school most of the time so I had no idea.

She’s the only freshman from that roster I had who is going to a 4-year college off the bat, and none of the sophomores I had first year who graduated last year went either.

Not that a 4-year school is the end all be all or even the best option in the big 2026… but still! She’s the first one that I helped get there even if it’s only a little bit and I’m so freaking proud of her!!! First one in her family too!!!
