How to download the games to the modded switch

Okay so I am a complete noob at anything modded switch related. Im following a youtube tutorial on how to add the games but it doesn't say where Im supposed to get the games from. I know im supposed to connect switch to laptop, launch dbi and drag the game file into the switch folder, where exactly am i supposed to get the game/nsp file from though? is it like a rom?
