Domane AL 5 Gen 4 vs Domane SL 5 Gen 4

I purchased a Dual Sport 3 Gen 5 last year. I've enjoyed it but as I ride more frequently and longer I'm seeing the desire to get a road bike with drop bar handles, etc. especially for the longer rides.

I'm not looking to race but looking more for endurance and the Domane seems to fit that bill. Where I'm torn is the aluminum frame vs carbon frame. I understand the carbon frame is lighter, absorbs road vibration more, etc. It's mainly the cost premium.

Coming from an aluminum hybrid bike is it worth jumping all the way up to the carbon frame or is the aluminum frame fine? I guess I don't want to find myself a year from now "wishing" I would have gotten a carbon frame bike but if the aluminum Domane is a significant improvement over the Dual Sport that would be good to know.

For context, I put over 500 miles on my bike last year and did a couple of 30 mile rides. Not like I ride thousands of miles currently but I think the road bike will be better in the long run as I almost exclusively ride on roads and I love the idea of getting on my bike and riding for multi-hour rides.

Has anyone else jumped up from the Dual Sport to a Domane AL or SL?
