Can’t beat this guy.

Some background information, I’m about a 4.5-5 Utr and I live and play in west La. I am playing my first official Utr match in a couple weeks but I play around 4-6 times a week with lessons twice a week and other matches with people in my area multiple times a week. The best guy I play against is a reliable 6 Utr and have played against him 3 times. The best I’ve done against him was when he beat be 7-5 in a set where I was up 5-3 then I choked and he took the lead but I was happy since I felt like a played really well and he’s definitely better than me.

Anyways I have another hitting parter who always kicks my ass, 2 days ago he beat me 6-2 6-0 but his playing style is so weird and I feel like I should beat him every time. He has a 2 handed forehand, only a slice back hand, and a mid serve. Shot for shot I have a better forehand, better back hand and a better serve but the thing is that he gets genuinely everything back. I can hit 5 solid inside out for hands to his back hand and he’ll just slice it back perfectly deep into the court every time. So eventually I end up making an error and that’s how he wins most points. His forehand is so annoying because it’s never powerful but so many times he gets these crazy angles on them that I can’t even touch. I used to be able to just hit a good shot to his backhand and run to net to put a volley away on his slice back to me, but now he will just hit a perfect slice crosscourt when I block the down the line angle.

My other point is that the actual 6utr is really good and has a much better serve and has genuine shots and I can always give him a match but the other guy kicks my ass almost every time. I’ve beaten him in one set once and we’ve played probably 10 times.

I know I sound just salty and it’s because I am 😭😂 but i genuinely want to hear other people in the rec tennis community’s thoughts on this hahaaa.
