Housing

I’m going to be a sophomore this fall as a transfer, I just got off the waitlist for housing but I had no idea they haven’t placed me in a specific building yet. I’ve already started searching for an apartment, and I really think I would prefer it, however my parents really want me to do a dorm because the “social aspect”. Will not being in a dorm make or break potentially making friends? I’m obviously not gonna be in an only first year building so I think that ship has sailed-and I don’t really take NYU dorms to be like the ones at my last school.
