**1. The Bomb Failures and Confusion**
The shooters' original plan relied heavily on detonating large propane bombs in the cafeteria to kill hundreds of students. When the bombs failed to detonate, they started shooting. After their initial shooting spree in the library, the pair went back down to the cafeteria to manually detonate the devices. Because the explosives failed to go off properly, they spent time wandering the hallways, shooting into empty rooms, and occasionally making eye contact with students barricaded in classrooms.

**2. Return to the Library**
Frustrated by their inability to cause widespread destruction, the duo eventually made their way back to the Columbine High School massacre library at roughly 12:00 p.m. The room was mostly empty of their surviving targets, aside from injured students who were playing dead. They fired a few shots out the windows at police officers and paramedics stationed outside.

**3. The Suicides**
Around 12:08 p.m., after lighting a Molotov cocktail on one of the library tables, Harris and Klebold took their own lives.

**Eric Harris:** Sat down with his back against a bookshelf, resting his shotgun between his legs, and shot himself in the mouth.

**Dylan Klebold:** Lit a final Molotov cocktail on a nearby table, stood on his knees, and shot himself in the left temple.
