Transfer question mm7

I’m a 20 year-old maintenance mechanic living in a HCOL area and I really want to move to a cheaper state so I can actually afford to live on my own and start building a life for myself. the end of this year, I’ll make 12 months and I’m thinking about putting in for a transfer. For anyone who’s been through it what was the process like and how long did it take? How much time were you given between locations to get settled and move and what kind of costs should I expect during the move? I’ll most likely be doing this without any family or friends in the area, which is a little scary but the cost of living where I am now is making it hard to get ahead. I’d really appreciate any advice,tips, or recommendations from people who have done it before.
