I built Preceptor.Network after watching my wife struggle to find a preceptor, happy to answer questions (mod/owner disclosure)

Full disclosure: I own and moderate this sub, and I built the platform I'm about to mention, so take this as the biased source it is.

My wife went through an FNP program and the hardest part wasn't the coursework. It was finding a preceptor. Cold emails into the void, dead-end Facebook threads, and a couple of sketchy "pay us and we'll place you" outfits. So I built https://Preceptor.Network to make the matching part less miserable.

What it does and doesn't do, honestly:

  • It matches students to preceptors using school-specific requirements, specialty track, and hour thresholds, not just a directory you scroll through.
  • Preceptors join free. Students pay a flat per-match fee (not a subscription, not a placement guarantee).
  • The platform does not take a cut of or set what a preceptor charges a student. Preceptors who teach without charging get more visibility; anyone charging a fee goes through an extra verification step.
  • Licenses are verified against state boards, and preceptor contact info stays masked until there's mutual interest.

It's early-stage and I'm still building. It won't magically conjure a preceptor in a saturated metro overnight, because no tool can. But if the cold-outreach grind is wearing you down, it might be worth a look.

I'd rather have honest feedback than signups, so: what would actually make a tool like this useful to you? Tear it apart below.
