Should I Bother If I Want To Be Private?

I’m a faceless account and I don’t share where I live with anyone. I’ve heard people say that this isn’t an issue but I’m starting to think the contrary based on what I’m seeing. Should I just forget about being part of this community? The way I see it, if you’re not going to make a decent amount of money, what’s the point? But that’s just me.
