170k Platinum Offer Tempting Me Away From My Cobalt

Amex is offering me a 170,000 MR welcome bonus to switch from Cobalt to Platinum as follow

• 130,000 points after spending $10,000 in the first 3 months
• Another 40,000 points after making a purchase between months 15-17

I’m seriously considering it, but I keep coming back to my Cobalt.

Most of my spending is restaurants, groceries, and food delivery, so the 5x earn rate has been extremely valuable. Part of me feels like Amex is trying pretty hard to move heavy Cobalt users onto the Platinum.

For those who have had both cards, was the Platinum welcome bonus worth it, or did you end up realizing the Cobalt was still the better long-term keeper card?
