Spot pet insurance is a scam?

I have had a policy with them since 2022 and been paying my monthly premium with no incidents luckily. However, recently my dog got periodontal disease and the got dental work done and the vet bill came out to $976. I have an annual deductible of $250 and before his procedure, he went to the vet for a consult and i thought my annual deductible was met because that bill was around ~$300.
When i submitted my claim, i was only reimbursed $500 ish and thought they made a mistake on their end by not reimbursing my deductible that had already been met. I called and they told me my policy is 4/16/25 to 4/16/26 so my most deductible renewed within the three days. I asked them if there’s absolutely nothing they can do as a courtesy because it’s only been 3 days to which they told me no. Has anyone else had spot pet insurance and been able to receive a courtesy service from them? I got frustrated and asked to be transferred to the supervisor to which they couldn’t take my call and now i’m currently waiting for a call back from them.
