Can I use Excalibur II Guide (PS) by gmo7897

Can I use (Excalibur II Guide (PS) by gmo7897) on the PlayStation 1 to complete challenge, but not use the lid trick to skip cutscenes?

I don’t really want to open my disc lid as my copy is pristine, and do not want to mess it up. Is it possible to complete challenge while watching all cutscenes?
