Up for sale today is a fascinating piece of Omega history: a vintage Omega Reference 2271 featuring the famous "Red Star" (Teddington) dial layout and powered by the legendary manual-wind Caliber 30T2 movement.

The History: What is a "Teddington / Red Star" Omega?
In 1940, Omega achieved a historic victory at the Kew-Teddington Observatory precision trials in England, setting a record-breaking accuracy score of 97.8 out of 100 with their 30mm caliber. To celebrate this monumental achievement, Omega released a select number of watches—primarily for the South American market—featuring a small star on the dial. The star serves as a direct nod to the astronomical observatory precision trials won by the very caliber architecture beating inside this watch.

**Dial & Hands:** 100% original dial and hands. The sector/scientific-style dial has developed a heavy, incredibly honest freckled patina throughout that gives it immense vintage character.
**Case:** Stainless steel Ref. 2271 case showing normal wear consistent with age.
**Movement:** Inside is the iconic, robust Omega 15-jewel manual-wind movement (Caliber 30T2 family).
**Crown:** The crown is unsigned; I am unsure if it is the original factory crown or an early replacement, so please assume it may be aftermarket.
**Buckle:** Comes equipped with a fantastic, vintage Omega-branded steel buckle.
