Hey everyone,

I wanted to share ZenTorrent, a lightweight terminal client built in Go designed for instant video streaming. Instead of waiting for a download to finish, it spins up a local server, hammers the first few pieces of the torrent, and pipes it straight to mpv or vlc so you can start watching within seconds.

For the new v3.0.0 release, I added a few major features:

\- ZenParty: Host watch parties directly in your terminal. It generates a 6-letter room code and syncs your playback state and seek timestamps with friends in real-time over [ntfy.sh](http://ntfy.sh) (no signups or server config required).

\- Smart Playlists: Queue up multiple torrents, and once the current stream hits 80%, it starts downloading the next item in the background so you get zero-buffering transitions.

\- ZenScript: A simple text format to write stream playlists. You can run "zentorrent run script.zs" to batch-resolve and play files.

\- Passive DHT Search: Optionally runs a local DHT crawler to index torrent titles into a local SQLite search database so you can find magnet links offline.

\- Custom Themes: 8 styling themes (tokyo night, nord, catppuccin, gruvbox, dracula, etc.) with custom gradient progress bars.

You can install it on macOS/Linux with:

curl -sSL [https://raw.githubusercontent.com/subwaycookiecrunch/zentorrent/main/install.sh](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/subwaycookiecrunch/zentorrent/main/install.sh) | bash

Or build from source:

go install [github.com/subwaycookiecrunch/zentorrent@latest](http://github.com/subwaycookiecrunch/zentorrent@latest)
