Aliens: Earth Hive questions

After playing Rogue Incursion and loving Zula Hendricks, I decided to start reading the comics to learn more about her. Then I decided to read other comics/novels in the universe because I'm a whore for Xenomorphs. I wanted to read the genocide arc because I've been hearing about the red Vs black storyline for forever and wanted to see it for myself.

I looked it up to understand how that arc got started, and now I'm reading the novel Omnibus with Earth Hive, Nightmare Asylum, and Female War. In that, HIcks and Newt apparently survived the LV-426 incident, but have been renamed in the novel iterations to Wilks and Billie to fit in with the canon established in Alien 3.

However, there was a paragraph in one of the very early chapters of Earth Hive where Orona mentions "another marine (who isn't Wilks) that survived the Xenos and disappeared. This other marine also rescued a woman and kid, who also disappeared." That is clearly referencing our main 3 from Aliens, but then Orona goes on to talk about Wilks as if he's a different person. And apparently, Wilks and Billie were on a planet called Rim, not Acheron like in the movie. But then he goes on to mention a "badly damaged android." That's clearly our boy Bishop.

That's where my confusion comes in. I thought that Wilks & Billie were just Hicks and Newt renamed, but are they actually two different characters?

TL;DR are Wilks and Billie just Hicks and Newt or different characters altogether? And if they are the same, then where the f*ck is Ripley?? Also, sorry for the length :)
