I got tired of Notion/ClickUp for personal tasks so I built my own minimal task app
Been lurking here a while, finally have something to share.
For the last couple years I kept bouncing between Notion, ClickUp, Todoist, Apple Reminders, and honestly just paper. Every time I'd set up some elaborate system, tweak it for a week, then abandon it because it was more work to maintain than the actual tasks. The tools kept adding more when what I wanted was less.
So I built TaskQuarry — basically the stripped-down task app I wished existed. It's not trying to be a workspace or a second brain. It's a calm place to dump tasks, see what's due today, and check stuff off.

What it does right now:
- Categories with color dots, drag-and-drop reordering (no weird auto-sorting that moves your stuff around)
- Today view that splits out overdue / due today / upcoming
- An "in progress" state, not just done/not done
- A Completed view so you can actually see what you got through
- Recurring tasks, subtasks, per-category notes
- Daily email summary of what's on deck
- Works as a PWA so you can install it on your phone
I use it every single day, which was kind of the whole point — if I didn't want to open it, it failed.
It's free. No team features, no AI writing your tasks for you, no gamified streak nonsense. Just a fast list.
Would genuinely love feedback from people here, especially on what feels missing or what would make you actually stick with it. Roast it if you need to.
