Question to help prepare
Im in michigan near torch lake in a tiny podunk tow, and have lived through 2 tornadoes now in michigan. Gaylords big one and bellaires smaller one last year.
I currently am in a 5th wheel and dont feel confident about staying put if God forbid an alert comes through tonight.
Spouse says its safest in our 5th wheel versus trying to drive and find shelter, and campground owner told me its safest to find a big tree and sit under it, or take my car to a big open field and just wait. Both said the probability of experiencing another one is slim to none, and because I didnt experience any direct damage to my body previously the chances of it happening are nonexistent. I just want to be prepared....
Im pregnant and have a toddler, neither of the above options feel like sound advice on staying safe during a tornado.
How can I prep, how can I plan an evacuation plan if I feel stuck and dont know where to go? I tried calling schools and community centers nearby with no answer. The churches dont seem very stable. Fire department and sherrifs dept arent answering so I just dont know who to ask for advice and I would really like a solid backup plan in case stuff gets bad. Sitting under a tree at 10pm with my toddler in the middle of a possible tornado just doesnt strike me as my safest option.
