How I Would Write Batman

My Vision of How I’d Like Batman to Be and How I’d Write Him
To start with:

If I were writing Batman through a timeline, it would go like this:

Year 1: Batman would be angry, more brutal, and driven by a desire for revenge. He would prefer working alone. Because of his rage, he’d jump into fights with criminals almost immediately. He wouldn’t care much about being seen. However, he would strike so much fear into criminals that they would sound insane whenever they talked about him. He’s an urban legend, nobody even knows if he’s real.

Year 2: Batman would already be more mature. He realizes that being angry all the time doesn’t help, although he still remains serious most of the time. He’s also started working with the police, but only in a limited way. During this year, he begins relying on stealth, though he still prefers direct confrontation whenever possible. By this point, Batman is no longer just an urban legend.

Year 3: Batman adopts his first Robin. Robin is a happy kid who always wants to help his father, and that attitude is contagious. After spending time with the boy, Batman gradually becomes happier himself and starts smiling more. He also realizes that simply scaring criminals isn’t enough and that children matter too, and that he needs to be a symbol for them as well. From then on, he always treats children kindly. Whenever something happens and there’s a child nearby, he’ll make sure to check on them and comfort them. I like the idea that he keeps something like a lollipop or a piece of candy in his utility belt to give to kids and help them feel better. By Year 3, Batman strongly favors stealth over brute force. Most of the time, he resolves situations without ever being seen.

Year 4: Batman is now far more experienced. He analyzes situations more carefully and thinks things through before acting. He works with the police regularly, the Bat-Signal has been established, and he openly communicates with officers. He’s much happier than he was in previous years. He’s learned to trust other people and understands that working alone is never the best option, he needs others to become a better Batman. Even so, he still terrifies criminals. By this point, he’s mastered the balance between stealth and direct combat, knowing which approach is best depending on the situation. Most importantly, he genuinely enjoys being Batman during this stage of his life.

For now, that’s how I’d write him.
I’m not a big fan of the idea that Batman has to be depressed 24/7. I like the idea of him eventually becoming a happier person after spending years as Batman.

I also think it’s a good direction for him to learn to let go of his anger and become kind to the people who deserve it.
I’d make Robin the person who influences him to become better in almost every way. Robin would teach him how to enjoy life again, appreciate the positive side of things, and ultimately become a happier person.
