I'm a Newgen, Please Help!

Hey everyone, I am getting into Tokyo Ghoul to learn more abt Kaneki, as I am an avid Dead by Daylight player, and I don't really know anything abt Kaneki or Tokyo Ghoul as a whole. I've heard whispers around corners of the internet that the manga is better than the anime, but I'm unsure of which to pursue between the two of them. I'd also prefer timeline order if there are any other pieces of work anime or manga, in the universe. I want to know EVERYTHING.
