What are we supposed to do, genuinely?
OK, so people are online straight up shaming Ariana for being sick, and for touring. They are shaming people for attending her shows. At this point a lot of it is just disgusting words being disguised as “concern”.
My own friend messages me and said that “Her family isn’t helping so public shame is the only way to stop her.”
In my opinion, yes I know Arianna is sick. We can all tell but at the same time we do not know her. We do not make choices for her. There’s no way to talk somebody out of an eating disorder. I am going to her concert because I have loved her since I was a little girl. It’s not going to be me focusing on her body. It’s gonna be the person I have loved since I was little and the songs I have loved/ do love. To people saying we should boycott a tour. I think it’s just ridiculous because the seats are going to be filled no matter what. Ariana is going to be performing anyways, Ariana would perform in a room for even just 20 fans. Commenting on her body, especially in the way that people are saying she’s going to die, she’s killing her fans, she knows what she’s doing, is not helpful. I understand, expressing concern and being concerned is completely valid because I am deeply concerned, but at the same time, I know that nothing I say is going to make Ariana Grande understand that she needs help.
You cannot understand how an eating disorder works and affects your brain unless you have been in one yourself and from what I can tell, thankfully, a lot of people talking about her body have not experienced something like that, which is amazing. I would never wish that upon anyone. I just wish there was more compassion, and people were more willing to learn how body dysmorphia and eating disorders distort your view on yourself and on your life.
I think this manner needs to be talked about with a lot more compassion. Twitter and TikTok are disgusting places right now.
