Just crying into the void at this point. Brussels Sprout has been missing for a week now. She’s a former street cat who hasn’t been outside in years. When I realized last Friday morning that she wasn’t being a nuisance when getting out of bed, I kicked into gear and did everything I could think of. Immediately reported her missing through several databases and local Facebook groups, printed up flyers and papered my neighborhood, kept laundry outside so our scent would be there. We kept a door cracked open for her overnight with a camera trained on it so we could see if she was lurking around but she hasn’t been seen. My gut tells me that she’s gone - we have coyotes in our area, and that would be my bet.

We’re hiring a canine tracker who is coming out early tomorrow morning to see if they can find her trail. I hope so so much that I am wrong. But I’m prepared for the worst. This is the first pet crisis I’ve had since having children, and having to parent through this all has been so unbelievably hard. I have to keep explaining to my 4-year-old why mommy is so sad, and whenever my 2-year-old hears Sprout’s name, she starts doing the psspsspss and looking for her.

I miss her so much and this past week has been hell. I’m dreading tomorrow so much.

My beautiful girl is missing, and I should get answers tomorrow.
