Softening the blow from bad longs

So I sometimes buy OTM LEAPS and unfortunately some of them have turned sour (I don’t expect them to reverse).

What are my best options to recoup some of the losses?

I was thinking selling a further OTM call to create a debit call spread, but is a better strategy?
