Back in February, I bought a 1-pound Maine lobster from the grocery store.

The plan was simple: eat him.

Instead, I put him in my cold-water marine system “temporarily” and got attached.

I fed him sand crab, mussels and leftover scraps from fishing….

Over the last few months I’ve been obsessing over water quality, buying an expensive protein skimmer, building out the ecosystem, and doing everything I could to keep the tank healthy.

Today he successfully molted and came out looking absolutely massive compared to when I bought him.

Unfortunately, my Indian mud morays got one of his claws while he was still soft, but the bleeding has stopped and he’s recovering.
Lobsters regularly loose claws, and they can grow them back with time…

Just a reminder that when you invest time and effort into something, sometimes the reward comes back bigger than you expected. everybody told me you would die that I needed to buy a $5000 water chiller.
And despite being short, one arm, he is THRIVING
And he’s been thriving for months.

Now I have a giant pet lobster with one claw, and I’m currently looking into whether he qualifies for crustacean disability benefits. 🦞♿😂

Moral of the story: if you get EBT, you can buy small lobster on your EBT card and grow it into big lobster….🤣😭🙌🏿🦞🦞

I grew my lobster I brought at the supermarket for gumbo 😮
