What should I do in this situation?
Looking for advice from other learners because I’m stuck.
I had a driving test booked for today but it got cancelled after my previous instructor pretty much disappeared on me. I managed to find a new instructor and secure a new test in October, but it’s at Mill Hill in North London (about 1hr 45 from me in South London).
And Because of the new DVSA booking rules, I can't switch to a closer test centre. Since my booking is at Mill Hill, I’m restricted to changing to a handful of centres near there, which doesn’t help me at all.
My issue is my new instructor won’t go to Mill Hill because it's too far and has said I need to completely cancel and rebook closer to South London. The problem is those centres are almost impossible to book and I’ve already spent ages trying with no luck.
If I cancel, I lose my guaranteed October test and risk being stuck waiting even longer and essentially forking out more money for lessons.
What would you do? 1. Keep the Mill Hill test and find another instructor/car for test day 2. Cancel and gamble on getting a closer test 3. Something else I’m not thinking of?
Would really appreciate hearing from people who’ve dealt with the DVSA booking chaos or had to do a test far from home.
