Fuel tank unbalanced.

Had a new fuel pump put in, all works good except when I went to refuel only my right side of the tank fuelled up and I could not fuel more. Was the left side maybe drained and the fuel sender unit cant balance?? I need some insight because I am making a huge trip soon and need a full tank. My gauge is also not moving too…
