This youtubers analysis of inferno I linked, sparked some thoughts of my own. Great video to watch if you like diving deep.

Inferno does seem to have a narrative and this is what I think is happening. First Introit. It's just that, an intro. Setting the stage with reminiscent sounds of old BoC. Then suddenly the tone shifts and bleeds into something ominous. Prophecy begins.

I think Prophecy is a take on an objective truth and the creation of the universe. Whatever speaks to us in this track is The God. It's an entity that is much more alien than what western or eastern religions profess, but it is God whether you like it or not. This track establishes an idea for what is the objective truth and the foundation for the rest of the album. Then we "zoom in" on Earth with Hydrogen, Helium.

I think Hydrogen, Helium is about the forming of life on earth. It builds up, slowly at first, but by the end we hear bongos, and indecipherable chatter, almost to say by the end of this track human civilization has formed and its cultures are beginning to form. Also note the chatter in this track is similar to the chatter we here on The Process later in the album.

We then jump ahead in time with The Age of Capricorn. At this point Christianity has been established. Jesus is a Capricorn if we assume his December birthday. We are shown a somewhat normal and even harmonious relationship with spirituality. Though some might even consider this extreme. At the very least there is a positive, triumphant mood to this track. Perhaps just showing the bright side of Christianity or religion.

This is quickly contrasted with Father and Son. We might have moved slightly forward in time to a more modern era. Now we're shown the dark side of religion and Christianity. The cultish mentality it can lead to. In many cases it can actually divide families. This track may foreshadow a loss of true spirituality, or the corruption and abuse of spirituality.

Somewhere Right Now in The Future, then acts as a sort of transition. We've covered off on the rise and decline of western spirituality. We now get a "meanwhile back in the east" interlude.

Naraka begins. We return to the forming of life on earth. The evidence I have for this is a variation on the opening melody of Hydrogen, Helium. At :32 we hear this variation. This track ends with Hare Krishna chants. Again suggesting the rise of civilization, culture, and eastern spirituality. What's more is despite coming up from the same starting materials, completely different aesthetics arose.

What is this contrasted with? Acts of Magic

That's all I've got so far. Thanks for reading, please only comment with constructive discussion or don't comment at all.
