Judgy eyes to respectful PDA

I understand that in our culture, people like to get their nose in other people's business however why is it when i hug my partner, hold hands, stare at my partner in a romantic way (atleast i think i do lol), getting close in general (basic respectful PDA, no kissing or making out obviously etc..) for some reason we still get so many weird looks and it makes me nervou

can't people just let others be ? am i just being anxious ?

anyone else have this experience?
