I know this is a pretty generic question but what's the best desktop for an average user?

Advice

I have been using Linux for around 2 years, and I am still pretty conflicted about what the "best" Linux desktop is. I know this is pretty subjective, depending a lot on what the user wants on their desktop. But even in different niches (Customization, Workflow, etc.), the general options aren't really good for me sometimes because they're too restrictive, too buggy, or just too limited in features. I just wanted a complete desktop which is stable enough to not break on basic stuff (like the wifi GUI not working, which I see happening a lot in Cosmic) and has basic customization (configuration for panels specifically, like changing the color or the order of the objects).

BTW, I have already tested a lot of popular desktops like GNOME, Cosmic, and KDE Plasma, and none of them stuck with me for a lot of reasons: because you can't put shortcuts on your desktop (GNOME), because GTK apps don't work properly and some games have the window glitch out (Cosmic), or because the system was lagging and had a lot of broken applications (KDE Plasma).
