Water feature valves turned down

I've got a single speed pump powering 3 water features with a valve controlling each feature. It's pretty loud when running at full speed, but it's nice and serene if I turn the valves down to the lowest setting. Does doing that put undue pressure on the motor, or is it ok to run like that?
