Losing my patience
I 29f recently married my 29m boyfriend. Our state doesn't require ceremonies so we went to the courthouse to get married 2 months ago. Prior to getting married my now MIL(53) great. We cooked together hung out when my hubby was at work. Now after getting married and moving in with her(her idea) its horrible. She doesn't cook anymore. She refuses to clean. Me and hubby clean the house take care of the animals pretty much everything besides the outside work which my FIL comes over to do(mil and fil are currently not living together due to reasons, not getting into that). FIL pays all the household bills. MIL does work but would rather use my FILs military retirement money to support her drinking habits. We can't go to Walmart without her asking for wine. After moving in with her I got a new job. The first night I went to work she attempted to attack my husband and followed him to our bedroom trying to make him attack her. I quit that job after two weeks after discussing it with my husband. I took some time for myself encouraged by my hubby. The day after she found out I quit my job, she demanded I get another one immediately because according to her I was "using her son for his money". Now I love my husband our bills get paid but after bills medical and gas every week we don't have a lot left over. So where that came from idk. I was hired at a new place last week starting this coming Monday. I will be working 35 hours a week. My hubby is getting a new job working up to if not more than 50 hours weekly. We are still gonna be expected to keep the house clean(that includes all her messes, her laundry, cleaning her room, etc). I am not doing that. With me not working and both hubby and mil working I didn't mind it as much but I will be working 7 days a week at my new job. I don't think it's fair or appropriate for the two of us to work ourselves to the bone and still be expected to clean a 4 bed 2 bath 2000+ sq ft house when we aren't the only ones living in it.
Hubby and I have decided to sit down with his dad and set a amount for us to pay rent and some on the water(we have to shower daily or else my mil says we stink) and power. We have listed 15 items that we want implemented into our rental agreement. Basically that we will be considered his tenants and will be respected and treated as such. So no obligation to care for my mil unless it's life threatening or she is severely injured(broken bone, heart attack, etc) We also want to have our privacy respected as a married couple(we can't even close our bedroom door because we can't hear her calling for us if it's closed. She's perfectly able bodied and can walk across the house if she needs us but just lays in bed and screams for one of us or texts or calls our phones-we pay for our own phones, have thought about blocking her number lol). She was mad we didn't have a real wedding. Context on that I don't have parents or grandparents or any close family as all have deceased. So we decided to do the courthouse wedding. Got mad that we didn't tell her we got pregnant or that we lost the baby at 5 weeks. Keeps saying we need to tell her more stuff but she can't tell us stuff to our faces. She told my sil that me and hubby stank one day and that my sil needed to tell us to bathe more. We live in the south it's summer neither my car or hubby's has air at the moment we had spent the day doing errands for mil all day. Temp was over 90 degrees that particular day. Yea we were sweating. I love my husband. And we love his mom but something has gotten give. Has anyone else dealt with this degree of Monster in Law
