All steels necessary for academic tuning?

I recently acquired a nice orchestral balalaika and am now trying to figure out to do with my original, Lunacharskyesque, folk balalaika.

In addition to maybe using it as a wall ornament - I am considering tuning it to CEG to mess around with for fun occasionally. I don’t consider it worthwile (at least currently) to purchase two more steel strings. Does this tuning work with two nylon and one steel?
