After 8 months of moving to Jordan

Discussion للنقاش

moved to Jordan a couple of months ago after living my whole life abroad in different countries and honestly I have mixed feelings.

There are things I really love here like the weather, the food, the coffee, and honestly I do feel safe here which is a big thing. But socially it has been really hard for me.

I feel like because I have a mixed Arabic accent people keep asking me “where are you from?” all the time and sometimes they mock the way I speak which gets annoying. Also I feel like some people try to take advantage of you in any way possible, like scamming or overcharging feels almost normal sometimes and you always have to be alert.

A lot of people I met in shops or public places are rude for no reason, very short tempered, and full of negativity. It feels like people love spreading negative energy everywhere.

Also people are extremely nosey and ask very personal questions like it is normal, and I always find myself thinking how can you even ask me that? the staring in public is another thing, people just stare in a way that feels rude and uncomfortable.

I know not everyone is like this and maybe I just had bad experiences, but after only a few months here I am already thinking maybe this is not the place for me long term! Considering moving again
