Nintendo Switch OLED: Still Worth It in 2026?
Been debating this for a while and figured I’d ask here since you all know this stuff better than any review site.
With Switch 2 out, is the original OLED model still a reasonable buy, or has it basically been left in the dust? My main use case would be portable play — handheld gaming on trips and lounging around.
Things I’m weighing:
• Price drops since Switch 2 launched — is it actually cheaper now, or are retailers holding prices steady?
• Game library — most of my interest is in older Switch titles and indies, not necessarily day-one AAA stuff
• Battery life and screen quality compared to Switch 2 in handheld mode
• Whether backward compatibility / cross-gen support makes the OLED feel obsolete soon
For people who own both, or who picked up an OLED recently — was it the right call, or do you wish you’d waited/spent more for the Switch 2?
Appreciate any input, especially from people who use it mainly as a handheld rather than docked.
