How can I understand if an entj might like someone?

I have a 15 y/o entj friend. He's usually serious about most of the things for some reason and his biggest love is probably history and politics. Because of all that, the other kids at his school are trying to bully him, saying he thinks he's someone special or some bullcrap. Though he doesn't really mind them, he told me that he sometimes gets tired or suffocated. He told me that I'm the only person he could normally have a talk and chat with. He even appreciated my loyalty in our friendship since middleschool. But he still acts weird and I just cannot tell anything if he likes me or not. He sometimes jokes and teases and stuff but sometimes, out of nowhere, he suddenly gets very serious. We could go from political future talks to family issues when we start talking. I don't really mind what he feels towards me or anything but Im just curious since we've been friends for almost 3-4 years now.

Put all the babbling aside, how could I understand it? He's a teen male entj, which I CANNOT predict. Mostly.
